Counselor and Intake Advisor

Shiann Metheny, BA, MSMFT, LPC  

Shiann MethenyShiann serves as our Counselor and Intake Advisor.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).  Shiann has years of experience in working with young people both as a houseparent and in counseling.

In 1998, she graduated with a BA in Psychology (and with minors in Agriculture and Sociology) from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX.  In 2002, Shiann was awarded a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Harding University, in Searcy, AR.  She was a Licensed Associate Counselor in Arkansas from 2001 to 2006, and is currently an Oklahoma Licensed Professional Counselor. 

Shiann is currently an Adult Partner working with Students Working Against Tobacco and a member of the Safe Schools Committee in Hollis.

Shiann served as the President of the Yellow House Christian Student Center Alumni Association (SFASU) from 2004-2006. She is a board member of Great Plains Leadership Training for Christ.  She has previously volunteered as a member of Hollis Safe Schools Committee, 2002-2003.  Shiann is the past Vice President of the Oklahoma Counseling Association, Southwest Division. She has also been a former member of the committees planning Harding University Ladies’ Day at the Lectureship and WINGS Conference 2000-2001/2003-2005.  Shiann regularly has speaking engagements at Ladies’ Days and Ladies’ Lectureships. 

Shiann is proud to have served as a houseparent at Sweetwater House at Westview Boys' Home from 2002 to 2003.  She has been married to her husband, Troy since 1998.
