Prayers

We believe in the power of prayer at Westview Boys' Home.  We solicit your prayers on behalf of the boys in our care, for our work, and for children and families everywhere.

To help in that effort, we place our weekly prayer on this site so that the friends of our boys, and the friends of all children, can pray those prayers with us if they wish to do so.

What we believe about prayer

The team at Westview believes in the power of prayer.  We believe that God answers prayer, and powerfully so.  We cannot pretend that his answers are always what we want, or even what we understand, but still we believe that God is faithful.  We believe that parenting is a task that is best done when it is done prayerfully.  Children need our prayers and need to hear our prayers.  We believe that God hears and acts, but at the same time we believe that we need to hear the needs of others and the calls to action in our own prayers. Hearing these needs tends to move us to act in whatever way we are able.  This awareness gives us the opportunity to bring our work alongside the work of God.  We do not pretend that our work is equal to his work, or our power is equal to his power; God is infinitely beyond us.  Yet we believe that our work and our prayer will be more fruitful when we act, and when that action goes into the efforts that we are asking God to consider.
